Will the White House Allow Crude Exports?

I’ve written a few blogs talking out the oil export ban here in the united states.

1975 Ban on Oil Exports in the US

So Companies CAN Export Oil…Well Sort Of

Senators are working Together to get the 1975 Oil Ban Lifted

This will actually be my fourth blog mentioning it.  Why to I keep coming back to the same subject?  Well, I am a person that believes that the ban is outdated and should be lifted.  I do believe that the United States has proven we can drill enough to help ourselves.  Add that surplus of crude the amount of natural gas we are getting from fracking.  Then you also have green energy trying to make it in the market.  With all these different forms of energy, the US can and should export some of the oil that is drilled.  It would boost our economy in numerous ways; rig/well count would rise, construction jobs would grow from needed pipeline infrastructure additions; more jobs would be added for refinery updates and additions too.

In my opinion is that it would be a long term boost for our nations economy.

Our current administration does not agree with me.  Just this week The White House has threatened to veto a house bill that is written to lift the ban of foreign oil exports.  Their main reason for the veto, in my opinion is short sighted.

The exert below is from thehill.com

“In a statement of administration policy, the Office of Management and Budget said that “legislation to remove crude export restrictions is not needed at this time. Rather, Congress should be focusing its efforts on supporting our transition to a low-carbon economy,” the statement said. It added that instead of pushing crude oil exports, Congress should focus on “supporting our transition to a low-carbon economy.”

Yes, we do need to have other means of energy, not just fossil fuels.  Eventually the natural resources we are drilling for will run out.  Science has proven that fossil fuels are not good for the environment.  So I kind of get where our current administration is coming from.  BUT with the amount of people that are out of jobs in my home city and state, I have to disagree.

There are many people who are on the same side as me and their numbers are growing.

Below are statements from the Washingtontimes.com

Critics say the president is wrong to stand in the way of oil exports and that his veto threat raises questions about how serious the administration truly is about job creation, economic growth and selling American products abroad.

“Even experts within the administration recognize that free trade in oil could benefit American consumers and create U.S. jobs,” said Louis Finkel, executive vice president of the American Petroleum Institute. “Given the benefits for U.S. families and workers, it’s hard to imagine why the administration would reject bipartisan efforts to unlock America’s potential as an energy superpower even as it pushes for a deal to lift the oil embargo on Iran.”

Data from the federal Energy Information Administration have shown that lifting the ban could reduce U.S. gasoline prices.

So keep pushing for solar, water & wind energy.  It’s needed, I don’t discount that one bit.  My husband and I have seriously considered putting solar panels on the roof of our house.  Our house faces east/west.  The amount of sunlight that hits our house in the early morning and evening has to be able to power something in my house!  But let’s not lose sight of the financial benefits a natural resource like crude oil can have.  It is something that is still used by piratically every person on this planet, multiple times each day.  My fellow blogger Jessica posted this graphic in her blog about the uses of natural gas and crude oil, that illustrates my previous statement to perfection.

Croft Production Systems is a company that can help process natural gas at the well site.  We also have units that can help your company become more environmentally friendly by utilizing natural gas coming off oil wells.  You can save money by processing the natural gas on site and run generators.
